Oh Il-nam during his tenure as the Host, wearing a VIP's mask
The Host is a title given to the current leader of the Squid Games. He has absolute authority over all other Staff Members and VIPs.
For several decades, the founder Oh Il-nam was the first Host of the Squid Games, watching all the games from their beginnings in 1988 until that of 2019. The following year, Il-nam made the decision to participate in the 33rd Squid Game due of his brain tumor diagnosis, believing he would have more fun playing rather than watching.
Following Il-nam's death on December 25, 2021, Hwang In-ho became the second and current Host of the Squid Games.
