Once the lights go out, the ones who wanna stay are gonna try come for us. Killing us would mean they win the next vote and add more to each one of their shares.
Seong Gi-hun to his team in "Friend or Foe"
The Special Game, also known as Lights Out, was a bonus game that happened between Game 3 and 4, taking place in the dormitory. Though not part of the six game line-up, this was a planned event of the staff to eliminate and uneven the amount of players before the next vote.
The event was directly preceded by a violent brawl in the bathroom that killed five players. It was used by Seong Gi-hun and his allies to stage a revolt in order to end the games by taking over the entire Squid Game complex.
About 25 people died in the special game. After the game, an active attempt to take over the Squid Game complex and end the games occurred, led by Player 456. This rebellion ultimately failed, resulting in the additional deaths of at least 9 more players.
