Player 344 was a contestant of the 37th Squid Game.
Personality[]
Player 344 is very greedy and selfish as he kept voting O for financial gain and later participated in Special Game without remorse and later became fearful in Hide and Seek. However when the other O's laughing he was seen not laughing and mocking at Dae-ho which he became confused and curious of Dae-ho's tattoo.
History[]
Player 344 was in massive debt and decided to join the Squid Games for a chance to win a huge cash prize. He called the number on the recruiting card, and got into a mysterious car. He then woke up in a giant room with 454 other players. He then made his way to the center of the room and watched as many other players debts were revealed in front of him. Later on, he signed a contract and made his way up a flight of stairs to the first game.
During the first game, he was soon terrified as players were shot in front of him during the mass panic. He was able to control himself and stand still. He eventually completed the first game after listening to Gi-hun's commands. After returning to the dormitory, many players pleaded the guards to let them go. However, after a massive increase in the prize pool was revealed, Player 344 changed his mind and decided to vote O during the first vote. Him and the other Os then cheered after they won the vote.
Later during Six-Legged Pentathlon, Player 344 partnered up with players 126, 245, 332, and 404 and successfully played Paengi Doligi for his team. They later managed to complete all 5 minigames within the 5 minute timer and pass the game. After successfully completing Six-Legged Pentathlon, him and the other players held another vote. He decided to vote O again along with many other O players.
Later on during Mingle, He managed to partner up with other players and passed all 5 rounds. After Mingle, him and the other remaining players returned to the dormitory and have a third vote. Player 344 decided to vote O again along with many other O players. This vote ends up in a tie, meaning they will vote again in the morning. Player 344 and the other players seem disappointed and move back to their beds. After the events of the bathroom fight, him and the other Os have a headcount and figure out that they have less players compared to the Xs. The other Os then decide to ambush the Xs during the night to put them ahead. Player 344 decided to attack the Xs with them, and can be seen running towards the Xs at the start of the fight. However, he failed to kill anyone, and surrendered when the guards came in to stop the brawl. Later on after the fight and Gi-hun's failed Rebellion, Player 344 voted O again during the morning vote. They end up winning the vote and continue the games further.
Later during Hide and Seek, Player 344 drawled a blue ball from the gumball machine, which confirmed his role as a hider. The manager later explains that him and his team would either have to survive the 30 minute timer, or find a exit door to escape the maze. Later when the guards allowed them to switch teams, Player 344 tried to convince an unknown seeker to switch with him, However his offer was rejected, and he had to stay as a Hider. After the timer to switch teams ended. Player 344 entered the maze with his fellow Hiders and was given time to hide before the seekers came after them. Player 344 then ran off into the maze and tried to find a hiding spot.
Fate[]
At some point during Hide and Seek, Player 344 was found and stabbed to death by an unknown seeker (presumed Player 039). His corpse is seen in a hallway during Gi-hun's pursuit of Dae-ho.
Trivia[]
- In an apparent error, Player 344 is seen queueing to have his photograph taken after already having taken his photograph.
- As of the end of season 2, 344 was one of the only remaining background characters who have consistently appeared throughout, with the others being Players 024, 028, 048, 080, 105, 119, 134, 154, 310, 334 and 350.
- Every single one of these players, including Player 344 were killed in the fourth game.
- He, Player 443, Player 192 and Kim Yun-Tae are the only O voters to not laugh at Dae-ho.
- Apart from Im Jeong-dae and Kim Yeong-sam, he was likely one of the loudest player to yell out "ONE MORE GAME" as everyone else shouted, mainly because he stood in the front row of the crowd, while he was visibly yelling.
