Player 276 was a Pakistani[2] contestant in the 33rd Squid Game that took place in 2020. He appears in the episode "Stick to the Team", "A Fair World", and "Gganbu" as a member of Seong Gi-hun's team.
History[]
Player 276 was in heavy debt while in Pakistan and illegally immigrated to South Korea to try and make a living. However, he was unable to make much money due to being an illegal immigrant and chose to enter a high-risk competition to win money. After waking up in a large room with 455 other people, he signed a contract and took his photo. He managed to survive the first game, Red Light, Green Light, after most of the contestants had been wiped out. Afterwards, like everyone else, he was shaken by the deaths of the contestants, when the prize money was finally revealed. A vote was held if the game should continue, and the majority voted no. However, those who were willing to return could, and he returned, along with most of the other players.
He managed to survive the second game, Sugar Honeycombs, and for the third game. For the third game, which was later revealed to be Tug of War, Ali Abdul asks him if he wants to join his team. The other members of the team were Oh Il-nam, Kang Sae-byeok, Ji-yeong, Seong Gi-hun, Cho Sang-woo, Han Mi-nyeo, Player 244 and Player 196. For the fourth game, he chose a partner, but it was revealed that the game was Marbles and that players would face their partners.
Fate[]
Player 276 lost to his partner, Player 021, and was subsequently killed. His elimination is announced as Sang-woo is tricking Ali out of his marbles. After Il-Nam fakes his death, we can see his corpse.
Trivia[]
- He, along with Ali Abdul, are the only non-Korean contestants in the 33rd Squid Game, being both Pakistani. Each character is killed in the Marbles round and have their actor's nationality not matching the character's nationality. In 276's case, he is from Pakistan while the actor is from the Philippines.
- He is the only character in Gi-hun's team to have no speaking role.
Mistakes[]
- Another Player 276 is seen dead at the Doors after the initial chaos.
- Player 276’s icon shows as a Korean male although Player 276 isn’t Korean. This is most likely an error on the editors' part. The man in Player 276's icon is Player 006.
Behind the scenes[]
Although actor Christian Lagahit was credited, he did not have a speaking-role in the series. Christian and Anupam Tripathi, the actor portraying Ali Abdul, are also friends in real life.[3]
