Backstory[]
Player 188 was a fan of Thanos. In 2024, she was in heavy financial stress and chose to enter the Squid Games as a result.
The first day of the games[]
While being introduced to the games in the dormitory, Player 188 stands next to Thanos. She seems displeased when Kang Mi-na and Thanos complain on their outfits. When the Squid Game staff play footage of the players playing ddakji with The Recruiter, she is shocked to see Lee Myung-gi being slapped. Thanos gets her judgy look a bit later, when she sees him vaping. Player 188 seems surprised when Im Jeong-dae erupts in front of the players, justifying himself for being in debt. Later, she seems shocked when a manager reveals the amount of the prize money, but she quickly recovers from the surprise. When the players line up to sign the consent forms, Player 188 shifts from one foot to the other, being bored by the fight between Park Yong-sik and his mother.
Before the game[]
When the players take their photos for the game, Player 188 with a smile of happiness joins the people who want to take a photo with Thanos. One of this people is Player 031. Even though a manager forbids to take group photos, Player 188 keeps a good mood, because Thanos promised his fans to take a photo with them after the games.
As the first game, Red Light, Green Light, is about to begin, Player 188 can be seen talking with Player 031, who notices Seong Gi-hun taking his tooth out of his mouth and offers Player 188 to look at it too. Having heard Seong Gi-hun's warnings, Player 188 gives him a look of skepticism and doesn't seem interested in his words any further.
Fate[]
Player 188 eliminated.
The game starts. At first, Player 188 advances after Gi-hun and Park Jung-bae, but quickly outruns both of them. She also separates from Player 031. When Lee Eun-ju gets shot, many players panic and get executed by the snipers. Unlike them, Player 188 doesn't run away and survives. Seong Gi-hun convinces the remaining players to continue their run, and they do that when Young-hee turns off its head. When the doll turns its head towards the players, Player 188 gets caught shaking her hands in fear. She gets shot in the heart by Kang No-eul and falls on the ground dead. At this moment, the other players have adapted to the game, and her death didn't cause any reaction.
Personality[]
Player 188 was quite emotional. She often looked skeptical, judgmental or even bored by some other players. She was stressed by the massacre that happened during the mass panic so much that her hands began to shake.
Trivia[]
- Player 188 is the first player to be eliminated after the mass panic.
- Player 254 angrily told Gi-hun that she was even more nervous due to his warnings and almost died because of him. It is possible that Gi-hun's warnings stressed Player 188 out even more.
- Player 188 should have standing behind another player's back during the mass panic and after it. Otherwise, she would be detected by Young-hee much earlier. When Seong Gi-hun convinced the players to move again, she lost her cover and got shot.
