I promise, okay? There's no option left here. I teach Math at a high school. And I can run too. Soccer every day. Everyone was asking, but I held out so you and I could win. 'Cause you and me would be great together.

Player 062 convincing Seong Gi-hun to team up for Marbles in "Gganbu"

Player 062 was a contestant in the 33rd Squid Game in 2020.

Personality[]

As a mathematician, Player 062 relies on his analytical skills to help in the games, beating quickly Player 130 in marbles, and getting him as far as Round 5. He is able to quickly calculate his probability of survival in this game. Once realizing the odds are against him, however, he loses his composure and takes chances by rushing through.

History[]

Player 062 was a high school math teacher and an avid soccer player. He got heavy debt and chose to enter the Squid Game. After waking up in a large room with 455 other people, he signed a contract and took his photo. He managed to survive the first game, Red Light, Green Light, after most of the contestants had been wiped out. Afterwards, like everyone else, he was shaken by the deaths of the contestants, when the prize money was finally revealed. A vote was held if the game should continue, but the majority voted no. However, those who were willing to return could, and he returned, along with most of the other players.

He managed to survive the second game, Sugar Honeycombs, and the third game, Tug of War. Before the fourth game Marbles, he was discussing to Seong Gi-hun how useful he can be as a partner. However his comment on Player 001 made Gi-hun choose 001 instead of him. He chose his partner, Player 130, for the marbles challenge and defeated him. In the Glass Stepping Stones challenge, he chose the number 3, which meant he would be the third to go.

Death[]

Player 062 Stepping on the wrong glass tile

Player 062 stepping on the wrong glass tile shortly before he fell

I'm looking at 15. The tiles ahead of me. So the probability that I'll get everything right is two to the power of fifteen. Times that... One in 32,768. Damn it.

Player 062 using his analytical skills one last time before dying in "VIPS"

When it was the mathematician's turn, he calculated how there was very little chance of him getting them all right, (1/215, or 1 in 32,768 chance) and so he sprinted ahead, managing to guess three glass panels correctly before finally jumping on the wrong glass panel and fall to his death.

Trivia[]

Behind the scenes[]

Player 062 was portrayed by actor Lee Doo-seok. The Player 062 in "A Fair World" was portrayed by Chun kyung-chae.

Lee Doo-seok said in an interview[2] that Player 062 is a self-righteous and mean character who most likely fell into debt after investing in cryptocurrency, due to his overconfidence in his math skills and investing abilities.

He has also stated that he is personally not very good at math, unlike the character he portrayed.
