History[]
At some point during Player 044's life, he became burdened by financial debt. Eventually, he was approached by the Recruiter and given an invitiation to the Squid Game where he could make more money. Having accepted the invitation, he was picked up, gassed, and taken to the island where he was changed into his player uniform and stripped of his personal possessions.
He woke up in a room with 455 other contestants, where many of them demanded to know where they were, either out of anger or anxiety. It was revealed all of the contestants were chosen because of their large debts. Following this, Player 044 signed his contract, took his photo, and was taken to the first game: Red Light, Green Light, which he managed to survive, even after the initial panic. Like the remaining survivors, Player 044 was shocked by the death of those who failed.
After the first game ended, a voting session takes place to determine whether the remaining players want stay or leave the games. Although Player 044's choice was unknown, the majority voted in favor to leave; thus, Player 044 returned back to society.
After the games paused for a few days, they later resumed for those who were willing to return. Of the 187 players who chose to rejoin the games, Player 044 was one of them. Upon his return, he managed to pass the 2nd game, Dalgona.
Death[]
As chaos unfolded during the intermission between the second and third games, the Special Game soon took place. During the chaos, Player 044 was killed by another player, and was later eliminated. His corpse was placed inside a coffin, and taken to be incinerated.
