Lee Young-hoo may also refer to Player 436, a player with an identical name who won the 26th Squid Game.

Lee Young-hoo (이영후 I Yeong-hu?), also known as Player 001, is a man who played in the 12th Squid Game in 1999. His player file is shown in the episode "A Fair World".

History[]

Almost nothing is known about Lee Young-hoo's history, except for the fact that he held three different jobs over the course of his adult life and had no formal education listed on record. As of 1999, he was cohabiting with two other people, possibly his parents or other family members.

When he was contacted by Squid Game staff, Lee Young-hoo decided to enter a high-risk competition in order to win large amounts of money, becoming the very first person to join the 12th Squid Game.

Fate[]

It is unclear what happened to Lee Young-hoo, as the 12th Squid Game was ultimately won by a player named Oh Jeong-nam. It can be assumed that he either died in the games or left them after voting to terminate.

Trivia[]

  • Lee Young-hoo shares his name with Player 436, a contestant who competed in and won the 26th Squid Game. It's possible, though extremely unlikely, that these two are the same person.
