Mun Jang-ho (문?호 Mun Jang-ho?), also known as Player 002, was a contestant who participated in the 33rd Squid Game. He appears in the episodes "Red Light, Green Light" and "Gganbu", and his player file is seen in "A Fair World".

History[]

Mun Jang-ho was born to his father Mun Dae-hee and his unnamed mother on July 14, 1966. He did not formally attend any high school or university and worked as a marine engineer aboard a merchant ship. Unfortunately, due to abuse of rights and drinking, he became unemployed on November 12, 2018 after 28 years of work.[3] He was unable to find a new job and later decided to participate in the Squid Games, becoming the first player to join aside from Oh Il-nam.

Mun Jang-ho survived the first game, Red Light, Green Light. After this, he could be seen agreeing with Player 066 when he confronted the guards and said that the authorities could track them using their phones. When a vote was held on whether or not to end the games, Mun Jang-ho voted to continue. He was seen celebrating after the termination of game despite his vote and was sent home along with the rest of the players.[cite]

When the games resumed, Mun Jang-ho was one of many players to return. He managed to survive the second game, Sugar Honeycombs, as well as the Special Game and Tug of War, though it is unclear which team he joined.

Fate[]

During Marbles, Mun Jang-ho partnered with Player 414 and both cheated which caused them to be starved to death.[cite]

Trivia[]

  • Mun Jang-ho shares his name with Player 129, a man who competed in and won the 2nd Squid Game. It is possible, though extremely unlikely, that these two are the same person.
  • According to his player file, Mun Jang-ho's resident registration number is most likely 660714-1156321. He resided in Cheonghak-dong, Yeongdo-gu, Busan.[3]

Mistakes[]

  • While the Korean transliteration of Mun Jang-ho's full name should be 문장호, the top half of the first character of the given name shown on his player file appears to contain either the character ㅁ or ㅇ, neither of which fit with his known name. This is most likely an error on the prop designer's part.[4]
  • Another player 002 that was seen in RLGL and his actor was different.
  • Strangely, he is seen cheering even if he voted yes.

Behind the scenes[]

Mun Jang-ho was portrayed by unknown extra. Namuwiki has listed his actor as Kim Tae-yong, but it is unconfirmed.[3]
